It's almost time for me to start putting some long hours on the bicycle to start to get ready for the racing season. I'm really a data-driven type of person who loves to see metrics on almost nearly everything I do. This is why I've been playing around with various iPhone applications to help track my rides. I have my iPhone with me anyway to listen to podcasts and music, so it might as well pull double duty.
Over the past two weeks I've been trying TrailGuru. You can see one of my sample rides here:
Can you guess when I received three text messages?
Overall I liked the application. I wish that they would embed iPod controls into their interface to allow users to change their music while staying within the application, preventing any data loss. Other than that it seems quite solid.
Next week I think that I'm going to compare imapmyride.

The Last Lecture
I just finished reading 'The Last Lecture'. While this was a horribly depressing read towards the end, it leaves you wondering how you can make the most of each day and ensuring that you get to the core of what makes you happy and spending more time doing that. Randy Pausch was a very inspiring person and I definitely recommend taking a look at this book (on the Amazon Kindle of course!).
Early Voting in Washington
If you're one of the few people like myself who have either not yet received their mail-in ballot or have not yet signed up for your absentee ballot in Washington state and don't want to wait in line on Tuesday you can still vote early here (Thanks Stranger!).
